Special Assessment Level Freeze

If you believe you qualify, please come into one of our convenient office locations to apply.

If you have homestead exemption on your home, you can apply to freeze the assessed value of your home (not your taxes) if you are either:

  1. Anyone age 65 and older as long as you have homestead exemption; OR
  2. If you are a disabled veteran with a service-connected disability rating of 50% or greater as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or by a member of the armed forces or Louisiana National Guard and either killed in action, missing in action, or prisoner of war for longer than 90 days; OR
  3. A person who is permanently and totally disabled as determined by a final non-appealable judgment of a court or as certified by a state or federal administrative agency with authority to do so; AND
  4. Your adjusted gross income (both husband and wife) does not exceed the income threshold of $100,000 (to be adjusted by the Consumer Price Index beginning in tax year 2026).

When submitting your application to freeze your assessed value, you will be required to select one of the three options plus meet the income threshold requirement. We do require supporting documentation so please be prepared when applying to make this process go smoothly.
